2018 Rate for GeoBlue Expatriate Plans

The drum beat continues…  rates continue to climb at a rate that is some cases can be alarming.  Like our domestic insurance markets the International markets are not immuned to the very same upward forces placed on the cost of health care, both home and abroad.

GeoBlue recently released several rate changes for some of their expatriate plans.  The two affected this July was the Xplorer Premier, Essential and Select plans as was their Navigator Series plans.  In addition there were changes in the rates for their optional benefits such as their Dependent rates, Dental and Vision plans and the Optional Outpatient Rx Upgrade plan.  Here is what changed July 1st of this year.

PLANS AFFECTED

  • XPLORER PREMIER (includes U.S. Coverage) – +9.9%
  • Xplorer Essential (excludes U.S. Coverage) – + 19.9%
  • Xplorer Select (excludes U.S. Coverage) – 19.9%
  • Navigator Plans (includes U.S. Coverage) – 19.9%

RIDER OPTIONS

  • Dependent Costs – 9.9%
  • Dental & Vision – 7%
  • Rx Upgrade – 9.9%

As we all know these increases seem to come each and every year with some years fairing better than others.  This past year as you can see was not a good year for the claims division.  Truthfully there is nothing any of us can do to change these trends.  We just have to deal with them.
